One year old!

It's someone's birthday today!!

Yes, it's Rico's!! He's finally turning one today. Look how much he's grown!

From this little guy

To this big guy, who's already one!

His eyes may look huge, licks people with smelly fish breath and a lop-sided grin, has a silly wag, pounces on me when he's excited, not the perfect height, but that's just what makes him a Rico. And I love him all the same, although he might not be some champion or anything important, but he will be my stinky puppy forever and I love him. I hope he will always be the smelly puppy who brings me his stinky tug toys forever.

Happy one year old birthday, Rico, my best buddy and pal!!!

Picture post!

Happenings.

So many things have happened for the past one month!

Mommy registered me for a jumpers dogsport class, and I'm looking forward to becoming a hip agility dog like my Grandpa and Daddy!

But Mommy says I ain't got any stamina cause just after an hour I become like this!

Hey! Who said I looked like that! At least I still had energy to look at the camera!!! >:(

And just a week ago, one of my teeth flew out while playing tug with Mommy! *sob* My poor tooth!!!

That's all there is folks! Signing out now!

You and Me.

In this big universe called Earth,

there's only you and me.

We both look each other.

I don't need to tell you how much you mean to me, or call you my "baby".

You don't need to snuggle into my lap or lick my face.

Yet.

We both know, our existence is treasured, and that we'll be together forever, no matter what.

The ladies in Rico's family.

The ladies in Rico's family went to compete in the 6th Singapore FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) and came back with great rewards! Below are his two sisters and his birth Mommy :)

Above here is JJ, Rico's older sister from his Mommy and Daddy's previous litter before him! She has matured beautifully since the last time I saw her in 2009! She was still a lanky little puppy that time, but now she's a little princess (who still has her zoomies!) Apparently she is shedding and out of coat, but she did really well!

Here is Rico's lovely Mama, Trixee! Her coat has grown back since giving birth to Rico and his sister, Tira last year and is back in the show ring! Rico really takes after her, doesn't he? Especially the silly sheltie smile!

This pretty girl is Rico's little sister (who's not so little any more), and according to her breeder, she's improved a lot! I think so too! She's such a promising little girl! I still remember her as a little puppy when she came over to our place with Rico when she was young. Miss those puppy days!

Don't they look alike? ;) That's Rico when he was 8 months old, by the way.

Anyway, we're really proud of the ladies in Rico's family! They did very well in the FCI show, and we hope they will continue achieving as much in the shows to come! :) The photos are a courtesy of Aristomilago Kennels.

Peanut butter and Honey Cookies!

Today we made a batch of cookies for our little Ric! Unlike our previous cranberry ones, these are peanut butter and honey cookies, made with love by mom and me :)

Anyway, here are a few pictures!

Ric really loved them so it just spurs us on to make more for him! Haha!

Banana muffins!

Mommy's mom made banana muffins for me yesterday!!!!! They were really nice and boy was I happy!

Mommy said I could have choked judging by the way I was wolfing my muffin down, but I am a smart pup so I won't do anything so ridiculous, don't you agree? ;)

Am I a good owner?

I realized why I was so down recently. And that was because I realized I wasn't a good owner to Rico.

You know, when I was young, I thought keeping a dog meant loving it and it would just love you back like that.

But no, it meant so much more. After what I see from the other owners, they seem to all bring their dogs out to special places almost every week, while Rico is always stuck at home with me, keeping me company in some old dingy room while I study

Other dogs have so much fun while he's always at home because of one out of these three reasons 1. I don't have the transport 2. I don't have the money 3. I don't have the time

Other dogs have companions at home but Rico only has himself and he's always waiting for me to play tug with him, but I end up making him disappointed because I have to study for the exams.

And I always see dog owners competing in competitions with their dog and says they are both happy. Maybe that's what makes them happy- winning. But too bad I can't do that either, because I can't enter Rico into any contests.

I don't have anything to give him, yet he was always there for me.

I think I'm such an incompetent owner- Rico deserves a lot better than some lousy teen like me.

I'm not that huge!!

Below is a picture of mommy and me! Well, I don't actually look THAT big, like everyone thinks I am (it's the end of our conversation if you think I'm some mini lassie). Get your facts right!! I'm not a dwarf collie or some "designer" breed of dog, I'm a SHETLAND SHEEPDOG!!! And proud of it!!

Anyway I'll be taking a vacation from blogging because Mommy's end-of-year examinations are already starting next week!! That means shorter walkies for me too :( But on the bright side, I might still come on, so I'm not 100% away! :)

New toy!!!

My new toy!!! The bone!!! Mommy bought it for me while she went shopping. I was kind of excited because it didn't look anything like my old chewy keys which mommy thought looked kinda disgusting already.

And it's my first new toy since Mr. Snort. from my 6 month old birthday!!! Off to enjoy my toy!!

Mid Autumn Festival

Today's mid autumn festival and Singapore!!! And guess what I got as a "present"? I finally got that disgusting cone of shame of me!!! Whoopee!!

Haha I am just so happy and angry!!! Why am I angry? Well, mommy and her friends are out eating their mooncakes in school, I have to wait at home instead. What nonsense is this!!

Sterilisation day 5

Whee! I'm back. Yes it is me, Rico! :D I'm finally well and jumping about so much that Mommy can't keep me still ;) But she gets nasty when she wants me to stay still by snapping at me sometimes, and of course, being the smart dog, I tone down a bit. I know my limits!!

So anyway Mommy took some shots (well the first one was candid) of me!

I'm so happy I got my blogging rights back!

P.S. I don't tinkle like the way I did in the previous post anymore. Don't believe Mommy! Trust her to put that here!

Sterilisation

Yes, I'll be posting this for Rico today :)

On Thursday morning, we sent our little sheltie to the vet's to get sterilised, and was awaiting his return at around 8 at night.

But the vet rang us up at around 6, telling us that the little prince had a successful surgery (which of course calmed me down), but he had to stay overnight because his swelling was quite bad and they wanted to keep him for observation, and I eventually spent the night worrying about my Rico.

But the vet assured us we could bring him home the next day at 12 noon, and I immediately rushed home after band to bring my boy home. At around 2 we picked him up, and I was shocked to see the state he was in. He looked so limp and tired, and his wound didn't look very good either. They gave us lots of medication, and I had to write them down on a little card to remember the instructions, haha!

But I have to say, I am glad my little boy is doing well now :)

He was pretty groggy at first, and kept whining because he didn't want the e-collar on, but somehow he kept quiet and just lay his head down to rest or sit down. He didn't move much, but he did try his best to walk to greet my dad at the door when he came home :) What intrigued me the most was Rico's way of telling us he was going to tinkle. He sat on his pee tray for a long while, and then when we weren't looking, he started to go to his toilet, which I saw after I turned back.

I'm happy that Rico still managed to remember where to go potty even in his zombie like state! :) He had a good early dinner, some apples and water so I guess it wasn't surprising his amount of wee could soak through the very thick (about 6 pieces) pile of newspapers we put on his tray HAHA. He ate his tablet without whining, spitting or throwing it up too :D

He started getting better at night, and he could RUN and BARK at the other dogs outside, which of course proved that he was definitely on his way to recovery LOL. And we're gonna clean up his wound once he wakes up from his nap! We hope he'll get better with each coming day! :

Collars!

Actually this is a delayed -action post. Mommy was supposed to post this like a millennium ago!! So they're not very new anymore :( What am I talking about? My (not so) "new" collars of course!

The yellow one is a hand made one by one of mommy's friends. It has musical notes on it! Now I have a musical thing too, a musical collar! :D

This one's my new collar from my breeder (she was really nice to give it to mommy brand-new) :) It's pretty worn now actually, because mommy likes using this one for our usual outings!

I think it's a lot better than my old tiny little collar!

Aren't they nice?

And of course they look nice on me! *flicks head* I'm a handsome spokesperson! If you need to endorse any of your products, call me!

~Rico
24/7 ever and always handsome sheltie

P.S. I was kidding about the endorsement, haha!
