Tricks, tricks and tricks!

Sorry that I didn't post yesterday! Was caught up with some things.

Anyway, I decided to videotape short clips on Rico's training! So far he knows two commands, "Sit" and "Shake". The video's kinda shaky so pardon my younger brother's video skills (tho' I think they are pretty good), yep, he's the one who took the video lol! So... here's two videos for your enjoyment! :) Here are the links:

Hope you guys enjoy it! :D

Happy 4 months old! :)

My dear baby boy is finally 4 months old :) I just love him so much, and although he has been us with only 1 month and a half weeks, he has really brought me a lot of joy (and naughtiness!). :D He's a delightful little sheltie pup, and I heart him! Happy 4 months, Rico!

Anyway, I decided I'd spam my camera since today is Rico's 4 month old day :) And yes, there's a "spamming" session every once a month! Puppyhood doesn't really last long, so I'm trying to get as many memories as possible :) Here's a little photoshoot of Rico!

WARNING! PHOTO OVERLOAD! (or it's not considered spamming....)

I have a furry rump :)

I need a drink!!

I prefer the red toy.

Is mine!

Jumping on Carol and getting a pat ;)

Play with me. I order you. :P

Runnin' with me ball!

I shall be a good boy and wait for my ball.

-scuttles for toy-

Running with the ball!.

I could murder a toy! Look at me!

Rico the murderer and his victim!

Whaddya looking at?

I love silly puppy's smile :)

Ew! Rico, not the feet!

Don't you even think about getting the feet!

Enjoying the wind....

Come to me, wind! Come! (desperado!)

"Rico!" "Coming!" -turns- "Now, was that a bird?"

YOU. WILL. DIE! Just kiddin'! Heehee!

One up, one down!

I just love Rico's handsome face :)

I spy something!

Now I like the ball more! At least it's a better target! ;)

What's that?

I'm innocent, trust me. I didn't pull the new newspapers out from my pee tray! I really didn't! To prove my innocence I will look to the other side -look-

Excited and happy puppy smile :)

That's all for today guys! Hope you enjoy the photos! :)

Do they have rights?

By Carol

Yes, so today I've "stolen" Rico's blog to post some of my thoughts. This will be my first time, but not my last! Sorry Rico darling!

Recently I've been having many common tests (in fact, my whole month was FILLED with them), and I've been working really hard academically and musically. Common tests are something like your usual tests, just that they fly in so fast and furiously every week like a dog doing super-fast agility! And just today, I had my geography test, and most of it was on global warming, how to conserve land and water and technological advancements etc.

Not very fun, I presume you'd think. But after reading this chapter, I just realized that almost, okay, don't be shocked, 80% of the animals living on earth will have to find new homes almost every fortnight. Yes, every fortnight. And why is that so? Well, for one obvious reasons, we humans are destroying their homes for OUR selfish needs. We are indirectly bringing harm to other animals as they all depend on each other (you know, the food chain). Sad isn't it?

Imagine, one day, someone comes down on a plane and drops a bomb onto your home. You'd be shocked and traumatised! And what if you'd have to suffer this EVERY fortnight? Horrifying. Well that's what these animals are going through. Deforestation, etc etc. That's a lot you know!

Also I've been coming across many articles about animal abuse so far. The latest one came from my friend, Michelle's facebook. It was about this man, dragging this dog by the tail and then dumping the dog off the roof. The video taper was LAUGHING. What is the world coming to. What is it? Just because the dog is weaker, they want to bully it. It's as if they are monsters trying to establish and show off something to the world. Show off what? That you're a tyrant? A bully? A maniacal psychopath? Let them try that if it was a stronger and fiercer dog. But then again, it takes a coward to be a bully.

It's so unfair. We have laws protecting humans from all these abuses, yet the punishment for abusing animals is just so minimal. A fine? What sort of lesson will it teach you? Teach you that you can get off the hook by paying money? Please. A life is priceless. Do you know the meaning of priceless? That means that it is too valuable to admit of being appraised something of inestimable worth. That is what life is. Priceless. You can't pay to bring back a dog's life. Going to jail can't bring it back either. Hanging or death penalties can't bring it back to life either. NOTHING will be able to bring it back. That's why a life is priceless. You can live, but it's only a once in a lifetime thing. There is NO second chance in life. Not just a dog, but any living creature's life is priceless.

Sometimes I wonder if loyalty is a good quality. Imagine sticking with a person and refusing to leave a person who has tortured you, until death do both of you apart. That is something EXTREMELY hard to do. But dogs possess this quality that even humans cannot compare. This is loyalty. Sticking and loving a person regardless of what he or she has done to you. THIS is unconditional love.

That's why animals are so beautiful. Maybe not all are beautiful on the outside, but they definitely are in the inside.

Sheltie Gathering!

Oops. I realized my blog has been pretty dead recently! I guess with all that common tests, Carol hasn't got time to help me post in the blog. :(

But anyway, I have forced her to revive it! :)

Enough with that, I suppose you've come here to read about the gathering. :)

I've spent half of my day with the sheltie gang during on Good Friday! I saw my mommy (Trixee), daddy (Meteor), two sisters (JJ and Tira) plus my grandparents (Prince and Coco) and lots of shelties and people too! I met this dachshund called Stitch too, and apparently he's seems to have taken a liking to me... Bullying me that is. :P I like this sheltie called Muffin too! She's around my age and about the same size so I played with her for a bit :)

Carol says I'm a bit like my mommy because I like hiding in the shade... Heehee. I stayed with the hoomans and got lots of treats! If I keep going to gatherings I think I'm going to get lots of treats. Shh... better not say anything more or Carol will find out what I'm thinking.... Here are some pictures!

The pup down there is my sister, Tira! The dachshund is Stitch. :D I can't wait for the next sheltie gathering! Till next time!

Ricotta's educazione

Actually, Carol told me she was at a loss with me because I was an avid mouther and despite multiple "No"s, I still continued and it made everyone unhappy as my teeth is sharp and it hurt.
So Carol went to ask from help, and many barking pals of hers gave her advice.

One of her bark pals said that it was because I did not know the consequences of what I do when I mouth, and the reason being- everyone was not consistent in my training! As it goes, a bad dog does not originate by itself, but because of a bad owner, so Carol decided to take the initiative to create a powerpoint to educate her family about consistent training.

In the end, it was successful and they applied their "knowledge" on me! Why do I have to be the cavia? But anyway, I managed to pick up fast and Carol was extremely pleased with my progress!
Now I know better than to mouth, well at least roughly. Teehee!

So for all those furry friend's momsies and dadsies out there, please be patient and consistent
when training! You have to remember that consistency and patience are the two key factors to training
and that we're just puppies. :)

Ricotta's visitatore e orecchio

I had a blast today! It was because Carol's bestie, Huishan, came to my house and I had fun meeting and playing with her :D I even sat on her lap! She got lots of kisses from me, and I was kind of naughty because I mouthed her hand. It was a good thing Huishan didn't mind and I didn't mouth hard either. I'm a sheltie who knows his limits teehee.

Actually Carol thinks I'm still a puppy, so mouthing is inevitable, so she was trying to get me to mouth softer, which was rather successful. I am a good boy who knows an occasional mouthing must be gentle! I'd rather chew on my toy, but sometimes visitors are all so.... intriguing ;)

Lick lick

Ooh! Huishan! Something's there!

Something's amusing Carol!

Carol, didn't you know I was a very kissy boy? ;)

Hmm.... Huishan's green collar looks interesting.

Mio orecchio!

Last but not least, as you can see, one of my ears are pricking up! Although this is only happening sometimes, Carol's been pressing down and massaging it for me, so now it is getting better and I am going back to normal, except when I lift up my head to try to lick faces and try to get the wind in my face. Teehee!
